Wild Ride on the Looff Carousel

A couple  of older women stood in line to ride on the Looff Carousel at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. I'm sure they hadn't been on the ride in years. They were tired and serious but they wanted to bring a young child on his first ride. After just a few minutes, this was the scene: they were laughing and screaming with delight. The original painting was composed digitally but completed in acrylic and pastel.

Buddha Pop (with Pink and Blue Borders)

I'm a fan of the Buddha! And I usually use gazing at his image to encourage a feeling of peace before meditation. But in this piece I wanted a feeling of celebration. It started as a photo I took of a tarnished copper Buddha sitting in a garden. Then I did an acrylic painting of it, scanned it into my computer, and added borders and multiple digital effects. I made cut paper bats to decorate for Halloween one year and later scanned them into my computer.  Now they're a GIF NFT to make you smile!

Rebirth (Green Sagebrush, Red Sand)

Sagebrush is a symbol of rebirth in the high desert of Arizona. Ranchers drag a chain across the ground there, ripping up the trees and vegetation to make it easier to herd cattle. The first plants to return are the Sagebrush. This painting shows Sagebrush being whipped around by the wind. But that's appropriate because rebirth can be a chaotic process.
