SW Horizon

The Southwest is flat, subtly colorful with orange-browns and rusty reds. The sky stands out intensely against the desert plains. 

Incorporating single-use plastic, this highly textured painting represents the true reality of pollution and environmental issues concerned with our focus on capitalism. Even though it's not always completely evident, the implications of consumerism affect our landscape, and our personal lives.

Sunrise Ripples

Inspired by the soft pastel colors over the reflective surface of a lake at dawn, I created my piece. Using found paper, from packaging, I used paint to work with the surface of the paper and enhanced color and texture. 

The orange-browns and rusty reds are subtle but powerful on the desert plain. It enhances the intensity and expansiveness of the sky. 

Using plastic, the texture is enhanced. It is not obvious what the texture is, just as we are not always seeing pollution and the effects of Capitalism in our everyday life. It is still there and affects our environment and our daily lives.
