About the piece

On December 4, 1917 Amedeo Modigliani had his first and only solo show during his lifetime at the Berthe Weill gallery in Paris. The show was censored by the French police since the nudes exhibited in the window were considered shocking. In the end, the show could go on, on the condition that the nudes were removed from the windows. In this TikTok, Modigliani shares his paintings covering parts of the body. Censorship is still a question today on social media and media outlets. The music is Original Dixieland One-Step created in 1917, Jazz being the avant garde music of the time.
