Low Lying Island

About the piece

I used a mix of found materials, like single-use plastic, to symbolically create an island in the sea as seen from a birds eye view. As I incorporate these materials into my work, I reflect on the implications of where they come from. The ideals of capitalism and consumerism affect global warming and climate change. Micro-plastics pepper the ocean, and nature is changing dramatically. We can't always see the pollution and warming first-hand, but it's always there and happening unless we do more to mitigate it.
