About the piece

"I’d pack my family's bags and my bags and hit the road for a little while. Explore the vastness without worry or fear that something wouldn’t be done while we were gone." To further quantify Black women's 8 months of time lost to pay inequity, the artist (and subject of this portrait) invited Black women to share how they would reclaim this stolen time. This is the sixth installment of a series in which the artist stages Black women's reclamations and includes the author as a co-creator, sharing profits in perpetuity as a direct action against pay inequity.
