Barbie at Ely Center of Contemporary Art

Barbie travels to New Haven, CT to attend the opening of UNDERCURRENT curated by Kristina Newman-Scott. The opening reception of this art exhibition was held on March 6th, 2022 from 2-4pm EST at the Ely Center of Contemporary Art. The exhibition dates were March 6 - April 24, 2022. Barbie’s favorite piece was one by collagist Melissa Sutherland Moss titled “Sister Delfina Sutherland”. Note from Melissa: I’m often motivated by the lack of Black women in spaces that should celebrate the historical narratives of our diverse journeys. For me, this journey has proven to be a vivid reflection of my culture and exploration of Black feminism, sexuality, and the transposing of identity into art.
