A Lopsided Tale VIII

About the piece

Water and sanitation are human rights, yet millions of individuals live without access to water and decent sanitation. This work is part of the project which aims to raise awareness on this issue. For many communities, water sources are often far from homes and it is often the responsibility of children, women and girls to devote much of their time and energy to collecting water, a task that often exposes them to human attack and even wild animals. Without better hygiene, people have no choice but to use inadequate community latrines or practice outdoor defecation. Finding a place to go to the bathroom outside, often having to wait until dark, can make them vulnerable to sexual abuse and assault. In the surrounding environment, exposed feces will be transferred to people's food and water resources, contributing to the spread of serious diseases such as cholera.
