"Serving Tee" (steaming)

“Serving Tee” was a mural I painted in Miami, FL December 2021 during the week of Art Basel. While it was designed to pay tribute to Black women creating and making safe spaces for themselves and others, 2 days after it was completed, the "tribute" proved to be more "ironic" than anything. I woke up to a text message containing a photo of my wall completely DESTROYED by vandals. A quick cover-up alongside fellow artists who lent their hands to help was all I could pull off before departing for home. 2 days after returning home, I was notified that the wall had been vandalized a second time so the property owners replaced the mural completely. Although completely heartbroken by the incident, I am grateful to have captured this image of the completed wall.
