LIttle Brown Brother

About the piece

This series explores the duality of my Americanness represented by a hoodie as a cultural staple in fashion. Hoodies are also stigmatized as the outfit of choice for criminality and lazy young people. These pieces express the true hidden inner-self. "Little Brown Brother" was a term used by Americans to refer to Filipinos. The term was coined by William Howard Taft during the Philippine-American war as a way to suppress rebellion.
