Mahal

This series explores the duality of my Americanness represented by a hoodie as a cultural staple in fashion. Hoodies are also stigmatized as the outfit of choice for criminality and lazy young people. These pieces express the true hidden inner-self. Mahal means love or expensive in Tagalog. The faces are generated versions of myself using GAN. Multiple graphic layers consist of my physical paintings, photography, illustrations, and a traditional script from the Philippines, commonly known as Baybayin. Original music by me.
