Pinocchio

Pinocchio is one of the most meaningful piece of "Sweet fritters ballad" which is a photographic project that began in March 2021. The starting point of the research is the carnival in Sardinia whose territory is historically the subject of endless theoretical speculations around the concept of "pure". The series’ title refers to the carnival sweets eaten by the masks during the celebration which is the only moment where the protagonists allow themselves to remove the mask secludedly. The research is guided by the maschera limpia (clean mask) which is an hybrid type of mask which was born between the resistance of the ancient rituals dedicated to Dionysus and the new origins of the contemporary carnival. Pinocchio is perfectly in between an old story and a new timeless story.
