About the piece

The collection has been created as a part of the monthly VOICE x Photo Vogue residency. I have been living in Bali for about 5 months. Along with eye candy natural and seascapes, the island is rapidly filling with river flows of plastic debris. Reflecting on an obvious problem, I have displayed in the collection some of the most common items polluting the natural area. According to a study conducted by Bali Partnership and different Environmental Agencies, an estimated 33,000 tons of plastic enter Bali’s rivers every year. That is the equivalent of 90 tons of plastic entering Bali’s rivers every day. That number is increasing annually, with population growth and a rapid increase in plastic consumption. The culprit of this problem is the lack of waste management infrastructure available on the island coupled with the gap in education and awareness.
