Space Pop Cat

Sofiya Kuzmina often experiments with opposites and the unexpected through contrasting subject matter or materials. Sometimes Kuzmina starts with stock images for reference, as the emotions and visual effects in staged images are often exaggerated and create a field for unusual outcomes. For this NFT, Kuzmina created a digital collage in Photoshop using various blending modes to put one of their favorite memes, the Pop Cat, in space. The astronaut seemed lonely looking back at Earth, so Kuzmina gave him a friendly visit. This is a limited edition 1/1 NFT in the inaugural New York Academy of Art NFT Collection (April 2022).
