Lilia Ziamou is a visual artist based in New York City. Her subject is the female body, her interest: how technology can transcend biological and ideological constraints that shape or limit the body’s exposition. Her works allude to the body transformed through technological interventions in physical and virtual worlds. The forms and surfaces reference the human at the same time as they intervene on its category. Lilia Ziamou combines classical techniques such as carving, casting and draping with digital fabrication and synthetic materials, in order to effect a multifaceted shift. She sees the body not as a sum of its limits but as an unbounded, multiple entity, freely “embodying” its futures.
